MSI Wind - A Challenger to the Eee PC?
MSI or Micro-Star International has produced the MSI Wind (which stands for Wi-Fi Network Device), a contender for the Asus Eee PC 900, and a 10-inch netbook pioneer. It builds on many of the shortcomings in the old Asus as a larger keyboard and faster Intel Atom processor. The extra weight on the 6 - cell version is noticeable around 1.2 kilograms, not so much as the HP 2133 Mini-Note. It is also true on the shelves at a fantastic EUR 320 MSRP, the smaller Asus Eee PC 901 hits - our # 1Mini-laptop.
The MSI Wind does not have the metallic finish of the HP Mini-Note or the fear-factor of Apple, but it's a pretty little laptop. Smooth curves and precise interface, large display and a variety of colors, "Noble Rot ',' White Angel ',' Black Empire ',' Romantic Pink" and "Wind for Love".
The large keyboard is a major plus, with plenty of space between the keys. It is not quite as good as the HP 2133 Mini-Note, which has a 92% full size keyboard and the Fn key is located onthe lower left side of the screen for the Ctrl key is frustrating users.
The 10-inch anti-glare screen is another plus, and that bulky than 8.9-inch models like the Asus Eee PC 901 or Acer Aspire One, it is an excellent price-performance ratio. It comes with a 1024×600 resolution, which function not overwhelming, but good enough to.
The touchpad is of little small, only 54mm wide. Compared to the keyboard, it looks out of place. This means you can scroll not nearly so easy to be useful primarily for surfing the internet. Other features include a 1.3 megapixel webcam, microphone, 3 USB ports, D-sub for an external monitor or projector.
Another control is the connectivity that only 802.11b and g / WLAN and Bluetooth. The lack of integrated 3G means that restricts your activities at home, hotspots or with a USB dongle online - A dongle would be the burden should be limited.
The battery life is poor with a 3 –> Cell battery and used intensively, it would fight for more than 2 hours to work. The 6-cell battery (like the newer Eee PC) is available, although the 3-cell battery would weigh one kilogram kept properly.
With the addition of a dongle and a larger battery, the Wind netbook, or "MSI Wind Notebook," as she is a very good value for money would call. Available at the same price as the smaller 8.9-inch eeePC 901, but with the screen size of the Eee PC 1000 is a definite contender in the netbook market.
