I bought it in part, to use webcams with Skype and connect with relatives and friends abroad, but the internal microphone does not work. I used the recording tester of Skype, but does not recognize the sound, not the tester control panel, despite the microphone Realtek, which were selected and find the deactivation of the microphone. The double and triple check all the possibilities to determine HELP, Samsung manuals, etc. on-line search revealed another problem with the internal microphone. If you hope to use Skype, you can try some other netbooks.

I recently purchased the Acer Aspire One netbook from Amazon after alot of heavy research. I know computers fairly well, but I’ve never owned a netbook, nor have I ever really messed with one, so needless to say, I didn’t really know what to expect. When I received it, I wasted no time in setting it up. I must also mention that this is my first experience with Windows 7. The set-up was a breeze and the computer started up pretty quick. The first thing that surprised me was that this netbook wasn’t really loaded with that much junk, so cleaning it off was quick. Both WiFi and Ethernet set up were quick and easy. The netbook had no problems with installing anything. I put Rhapsody on it as soon as I got it and it runs smooth, which surprised me because Rhapsody sometimes makes my desktop HP slow up quite frequently. I might add, for those who don’t know already, get rid of Internet Explorer. Its FAR too slow to do anything. Instead, download Google Chrome or Firefox. I’m currently using Google Chrome and I love it.

This machine was absent from the Amazon and the XP disk backup software Samsung is halfway to a DVD with an external disk. Half an hour with the support webchat Samsung and now they are mailing me a backup disk of XP.

Now I have a machine that does not work - is terribly slow, even after updating 1.2 gigs of RAM, crashes Open Office is a program running some ghost that can not be detained in custody, has difficulty waking up and assorted annoying problems are added to the box from the worst computing experience I had after buying a Dell over a decade ago.

Gateway’s LT3103u isn’t available in stores anymore: the model has been updated since the Windows 7 Launch which gets rid of the Vista Albatross. (Personally, I liked Vista, but I can’t argue with Windows 7’s slightly better response times.)

ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1008HA-MU17-BU 10.1-Inch Blue Netbook - 6 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Starter) Review

I decided to purchase this one because it met and exceeded my requirements for a NETBOOK. The specs on this baby match up better than most. Great keyboard and mouse, keys feel great, wireless n, fast boot, upgradeable from 1GB to 2GB, user friendly ASUS Bios updater interface, Microsoft works, lightweight. You must understand first the context of my statement. I wanted a NETbook. Not a Laptop. I didnt want an “ultimate” or Professional” version of ANYTHING running on this NETbook. I wanted it to be lean and mean. I wanted a small, powerful, convenient AND FAST NETbook for casual surfing and email. If you wanted more, your in the wrong market. I didnt buy this to play games, edit, video, watch TV or DVD’s, etc. Like I said I didn’t want a Laptop. Windows Starter 32 bit is an excellent match for a NETbook. Think of Windows 7 Starter as just that, the place to start. I figured, if I NEED an “anytime upgrade” Ill get it. At this point, having had used it for a week, I’m not changing a thing. Less is more with a NETbook. Ill save upgrades for my LAPtop and DESKtop. From when I push the power button to my first opening click of Firefox = less than one minute. I removed some preloaded crapware, i.e. ASUS whistles and bells and some preloaded games. Added Norton Internet Security Netbook Edition, and bingo, the perfect NETbook.

E 'was everything I expected netbook INCLUDUNG the small screen. THERE WAS NO CD-ROM, but an external disk with ease. I chose a battery of 6 HR and the unit has 3 USB ports. That's all I need now.

I recently bought the Samsung N110 After exploring all the netbook market. I looked especially for a netbook for use in the family room so you can do my work computer and the Internet, sitting in the same room with the family in the evening. My main concern was to buy a Netbook that has been well constructed, light and had long battery life. The N110 is 5 stars in each category.
